What is a CLT?
CLINICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIANS (CLT’s) have knowledge of the pathophysiologic basis for laboratory testing gained through professional education or work experience. They perform, according to protocol, pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of tests covering the full range of laboratory analyses. CLT’s recognize abnormal or unexpected results and immediate follow –up or corrections within pre-established parameters. They use and monitor quality control procedures. CLT’s use algebraic and statistical calculations according to prescribed protocol. CLT’s comply with appropriate safety practice for the clinical laboratory.
